Amandine is a beautiful character and very well written, with pages of nostalgia, hope and introspection yet there is no finality in the search which leaves the reader deflated.

I read this one as well! I actually liked the first half a lot better than the second half, and that was probably because, at this moment in time, I am more interested in convents than in war. I am glad that you liked this book so much and was happy to read your thoughtful review!
