I wouldn’t suggest this for someone who has never read any Mieville (The City and The City, or his new one, Railsea, are excellent places to start), but if you are already familiar with his weird style, it’s a great book. And yes, I completely agree with you that the genius of the book lies with how he plays with Language.

I’ve been wanting to read Mieville but I’m nervous I wouldn’t “get” it. Perhaps his brilliance would be a bit over my head? I really hope not but I’d hate to find that to be the truth. Either way, I’ve heard great things about The City and The City so I think I want to try that one first.
