I am currently reading this book and i am love with it.

I think am very good from seperating history fact from History fiction, so i dont get annoyed by little contradictions.

I really can relate to Phillippa’s version of Margaret, a child who dreams of being chosen by god to do great things… Reading and watching her grow has made me feel so connected to the character and i honestly love her strong willed personality

As I live in the villag of Sampford Peverell where Margaret Beaufort had a house in 1501 I am very interested in her life story.
I never believed Richard III was a murderer and I shall enjoy reading how pushy Margaret was involved!

This is about the ninth review I’ve seen where the reviewer wants to harm Margaret in some way. She must be extremly annoying.

And I like your point about her not being likely to idolise Joan of Arc. Not to mention an English woman would surely never idolise a French woman (in history I mean, I’m not making some sort of nationalistic statement here)?

As you are torn about your opinion on this one, I am also torn as to if I should read it or not. Usually, I adore Gregory, but The White Queen was a really disappointing read for me. It was my first read about this subject, but it annoyed me a lot. I was hoping that you might be able to recommend something better that deals with The War of the Roses…Gregory’s book just didn’t do it for me.

I didn’t catch the historical aspects, but I did think Margaret was a little over the top. I was annoyed too but though it was okay because I didn’t need to like her to enjoy the story.

I didn’t mind the self-righteous shrew-ness of Margaret, because I sort of loved to hate her. It also didn’t bother me that she was a total bitch AND believed that she was ordained by God, because I think the ordained-believing was supposed to be seen as deriving from being a self-centered bitch, instead of the other way around. She definitely had some major delusions of grandeur, but I guess they came true.
