Blech. I tried to read this twice - I don't really remember why I picked it up the second time. OH - yes I do - I read somewhere that his sister, the musician Poe, wrote an album that is supposed to be the "soundtrack" to this novel, so I thought if I listened to the album AND read the book, it would be better....nope.

I am not sure I would like this book. Even though I find the idea of a gimmicky book interesting, I don't think I would actually enjoy reading it. Thanks for the honest review.

This sounds interesting, even if a bit odd. At first, it brought to mind a book I read last year (I think it last year) called The Raw Shark Texts, with the words making up images every once in a while and the added bits of reference like information. Still, it somehow worked very well for the book. Of course, the books aren't even close to being about the same thing, so I imagine they are very different from one another. I am not sure from what you describe of this one whether I would like it or not. I'll have to do a little research on it and see if it's for me. Thanks for your great review, Meghan!

This one sounds a little too complicated with me. I'm bad with long footnotes, so I can't imagine having to twist and turn a book to read it.
