That does sound fascinating. Isn’t it funny how perspectives and values change through the years – I wonder what they’ll think of us 200 years from now?

This book sounds fabulous and the fact that it comes from a French pen rather than an English or American one does pique my interest as well. I also like the fact that it’s rather dark and gritty. I think I am going to have to see if I can check this book out. Thank you for your fantastic review!

I also have this book and the story fasinated me so I think I’ll also enjoy it. I read somewhere there were very few toilets in the palace so people did their business all over the place which sounds really gross.
