I tried this one several years ago but got bogged down early on and gave up. I think you're right about it in your review, as I remember it, and I take full responsibility for failing to finish it. It was me, it wasn't the book. I think there are three books in the series, yes? I should give it another go sometime.

As a serious science fiction since my pre-teen years I thought I was well versed on every sector of the science fiction universe which is what made me curious at the term you used "hard science fiction" until you explained it. Plausible science fiction. Now that it's been identified by its proper name I think I'm long overdue for some of that. Red Mars, set just a few years ahead in time, sounds very plausible to me. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just read your entire review aloud to my husband, and he is already searching for it on Amazon. This was a wonderful review, and really captures the kind of science fiction that my husband loves. Thanks so much for this excellent review. It's hard for me to find books that he will actually read and like!
