Marlene Zuk's also written a book that spends a lot of time talking about the interaction of feminism and the study of evolution and animal behavior, called Sexual Selections: What We Can and Can't Learn About Sex From Animals, that I think you'd like. She's really good at writing science for the non-specialist, which is pretty rare among scientists of her calibre.

...Also, I find it kind of amusing that I saw this post just after I put up my own review of a natural-history-biology-trivia-tidbits book (which was also quite good). Yay science! :)

Wow, this is totally neat! I'm not a big fan of getting my science from books (I do that through obsessive museum visits and google searches) but this has my attention.

I don't read much non-fiction, but this sounds like the sort of thing I'd love. I recently read Leviathian, which had loads of facts about whales and I annoyed everyone by reciting loads of interesting facts. It sounds as though this book would have a similar effect - I'll keep an eye out for it in the library.

I have this book just waiting for me, and am excited about reading it. I love non-fiction that centers on science and animals, and I think the intricacies of this boo sound fascinating. If you are interested in reading another great set of books on the animal kingdom that include some small warm-blooded animals as well as insects and amphibians, I would totally recommend Summer World, and Winter World to you. Both are written by Bernd Heinrich, and they were magnificent books!
