The premise of this book sounded intensely interesting to me, but after reading what you thought of it, I think the book would drive me nuts! I don't like history painted in such a glowing way. I like things to feel real and complex, not just glossed over and romanticized. I felt similarly about book 1 in the series, and I always felt a little guilty about not persevering with it since normally I love sagas; I wondered what else I was missing.
