I've been wondering about these books, although I probably only would have read the first couple, but it sounds like they aren't for me.

The premise of this book sounded intensely interesting to me, but after reading what you thought of it, I think the book would drive me nuts! I don't like history painted in such a glowing way. I like things to feel real and complex, not just glossed over and romanticized. I'm sorry this book didn't quite work for you, but I did appreciate reading your insights on it.

I don't read a lot of historical fiction, but when I do, I do want it to feel historical, even if it's not always pleasant. I don't think this one's for me.

I felt similarly about book 1 in the series, and I always felt a little guilty about not persevering with it since normally I love sagas; I wondered what else I was missing. If you read any others, I'll be curious to hear what you think.

I love HF but I want it more realistic and less romantic when it is dealing with historic figures. I think I'll pass.
