While this does look like a decent book: the time period sounds fascinating and I can’t help but love a little magic: it sounds almost like too much for my taste. The plot line just sounds like a lot is going on and while I can enjoy some action in a book; I don’t like too much. It sounds like this book just had a little too much going on for my taste. But still, I’m sure there are plenty of people that will totally love this book and appreciate its many layers.

Oh no! I got so excited when I started reading this review. You know how much I love books set in Venice, but I’m not really into books that center around politics, especially when said politics are completely fake.

I am sorry to hear that this book just didn’t work for you in the way that you expected it to. It sounds like things were just too fast moving and that the characters didn’t really get your sympathy, which, I admit, would probably make this book a failure for me too. Thanks for being so honest about your feelings about it. I do appreciate it.
