I really need to continue with this series. I agree, his characterization is perfect, and that’s one of the main reasons why I enjoyed Old Man’s War so much.

Ever since Carl V. mentioned that Scalzi was one of his favorites, I've been wanting to try something by him. I have a copy of Zoe's Tale on my shelf. This one sounds good. I wanted to comment about the deaths of characters--my husband feels exactly the same way you do--and I can understand why that is appealing. My husband loves science fiction, but I haven't read much. I think this might be a great read aloud book for both of us on our upcoming trip.
