I would love to read about Tamar, as she is a figure in history that I know nothing about. It sounds like this was a captivating read, and one that I must add to my shelf as soon as I can! Wonderful review, as always :)

I was excited to read this book (last year) because of its subject but I am afraid I found it a very unpolished debut, juvenile in style and problematic in its treatment of the historical content. On the plus side, I liked the freshness of the author's voice, and of course any novel that brings Tamar to a wider audience is something to be grateful for. She belongs in the pantheon of great mediaeval women.

Like you, I know more about the country of Georgia than the average bear having had exposure to its food, people, culture and even language (even though I was never actually there). That's why Tamar's adventure and the entire story works for me. I'm looking forward to reading it!
