I will have to add this to my TBR list. I love to learn about historical figures, especially more independent women - so this sounds exactly like something I could enjoy. Oh, this looks like a fascinating read! I'll admit, that I also don't know much about Portugal and think that Queen Maria's story sounds very interesting to me. I just looked to see where I can grab a copy, and find that although the book has been released for awhile, there seems to be a short supply of them. Hopefully I can find one at a reasonable price.
