While the mystery of this book sounds a little bleh, the characters and the overall story sounds worthwhile. Plus, I’m a sucker for books about writers. There is something about reading a character’s written work while getting to know them and their lives that really works well for me.

Sounds like I’d better move this up on my list — I don’t mind figuring out the mystery if the writing is good or I like the characters.

I reviewed this one today, too! Funny. I agree with you – Octavia is cold at first but I ended up really warming up to her as I got to know her better. Also, I figured out who killed Bettina right away too.

Figuring out the murderer before the characters do actually drives me a little bit crazy. I like the idea of a novelist rewriting all her endings, though–if only!

I have been so interested in this book, and have read a lot of great reviews on it, though none of them were as comprehensive and thoughtful as yours. I do want to check this out at some point, and I am really goad to hear that you thought it was such a good read!
