It sounds like this wasn’t perfect but still entertaining. The magical realism thing can be tricky (I’ve found it’s a love or hate thing), so I’m glad to know that part of the book was successful.

I agree that the description of the Eleanora impacting history didn’t really seem to play out in the book. I thought that she would have advised the Sultan on more than one topic.

I read about this elsewhere as it came on several mailboxes this week but yours is the actual first review I read. I too expected more and am sorry it has not turned out to be as good as what we thought.

I think I wanted the magical aspects to be better developed to be able to think of it as a work of magical realism. Just a LITTLE more about the prophesy and Lukas might have had me.
