If the Enlightenment led to a freer expression of sexuality, does the book address the hypersexualized view of non-Western, “uncivilized” people? It seems to me those living during the 17th-19th centuries felt like their sexuality was being oppressed and they had to get away from the Enlightenment to express it.

I love it when you read a book that explains why and how a culture can shift it’s attitudes totally, and where and how all that came to be. I am going to look for this one.
