This book sounds odd. Maybe the point the author was trying to make with the museum full of junk is that all museums are full of junk, it's just junk that we value?

I won this book awhile back, so I am sorry to hear that it's not really that impressive. I think that magical realism done well can be awesome (like in 100 Years of Solitude) but other times, it can just fall flat. I think this book may have too many elements bumping around in it, what with all the zaniness and the magical elements. I still want to give it a try, but will be keeping your review in mind while I'm reading!

I've been wondering whether to read this, and actually, ironically, I find that I am more interested now after reading your review! I like the notion of satirizing the whole Potemkin village idea.
