I think the problem with this one is that it's a 'polishing' of a book she wrote really early on, and we've all fallen in love with the Bridgerton Julia Quinn (clearly more developed as a writer). I know I had trouble with this one and with Minx which is also an early Quinn. I actually loved it until the final 50 pages or so when it fell completely to pieces for me with a typical 'trope' version of a cruelly jealous misunderstanding. Books like this are the reason I have stayed away from the romance genre. I don't have enough information to grab a good one, and I am always afraid they will end up turning out like this one. I'm sorry you had such a hard time with this one, but I enjoyed reading your thoughts. I’m sorry you didn’t like this book. It’s always disappointing when an author you love writes a bad book. I looked up my review for this book on Amazon, and I actually gave it 4/5 stars… but I have no idea why. I don’t remember a word of this book! Oh well.

I think this one won't work for me either - everything you wrote about that frustrated you were things that would have made this one a dnf for me.
