I’m sorry to hear this didn’t really work for you. I’ll definitely not make it my first Mitchell, as most seem to agree it’s far less satisfying than his others.

Oh, I am sorry this one was such a mixed bag for you! I admit that the only other reviews I have seen of this book have been very positive, but it is also true that it this book might not work for everyone. I really appreciate your thoughts on it and will have to seriously consider if I want to expend the energy on this book!

I had a similar experience with this book. Some parts were really hard to read – I had to re-read several times just to understand what was going on. If I hadn’t been a Mitchell fan then I think I might have given up. But by the end of the book I was really pleased I’d made the effort. I’m pleased that you felt the same way and I’m sure you’ll enjoy Mitchell’s other books much more.

I enjoyed this one quite a lot, but I don’t think it’s the best Mitchell book to start with! Probably Ghostwritten is the most accessible.
