I recently finished the series and loved it. I had hesitated reading these books because I have been disappointed in the past with adaptations of Greek myths. Riordan did a wonderful job of bringing out some esoteric myths and blending them with the more notable ones. I also enjoyed the guessing game of trying to puzzle out who a character was before they were positively identified in the text. I remember calling out "Echidna" a full page before she was named in the book. Riordan also has an affinity to certain gods and goddesses that for the most part echoes my own. That also aided in my enjoyment of the series. My son is now a huge Percy Jackson fan, and we are both looking forward to seeing the movie of "The Lightning Thief" that is due out in theaters February 12, 2010. .-= L.C.
