I am totally unfamiliar with this this novel, but any book that keeps you engaged days afterward is definitely worth reading. Bleakness doesn't bother me.

I love the title and cover of this book, and despite the fact that it sounds bleak, it does interest me very much. I am going to add this one to my wish list. It looks like a fascinating book. Thanks for the great review!

I am unfamiliar with this book but it sounds worthwhile. I know some people prefer not to read books with such despair, but sometimes those can be the most powerful books.

I'm pleased that you managed to find some hope at the end - I found the whole thing very bleak. I agree that it earned its place on the longlist. I think it deserves a place on the short list too. The way it gets under your skin is outstanding.
