Oh, the great memories I have from al-Rassan and Fionavar! It’s been a while since I’ve read Kay, but your review makes me look forward to reading this one. And I love this cover. Is it the UK one?

Ack! Heather already started Lions?! I need to get cracking, too, then! Lions is my favorite Kay, too, and while I liked Under Heaven, it just didn’t compare in my opinion. Liked it much better than Last Light of the Sun, though!

It sounds like you and I had pretty much the same reaction to this book: lovely writing, interesting story, but not as emotionally moving as it seemed like it should have been. Although I’d argue that (at least for me), Tigana ties with The Lions of Al-Rassan.

I am reading The Lions of Al-Rassan with Aarti very soon, and have actually already started it. I have to agree with the beauty of Gavriel Kay’s writing. You just go along reading these passages, and then some wonderfully awesome description or verse comes popping off the page. I am only very early in the book, but I am already a huge fan. I am glad to hear that this book was good as well. I have a feeling I am going to be reading more of his work!
