I haven’t read these particular books, but it’s so good to hear that this foray back into them stood the test of time for you. I think my husband would really like this series, so I am going to point him to your review and make the suggestion that he try this first book. Thanks for the help! He’s so hard to buy books for!

See, I all ready loved fantasy when I read this book, so I was not a huge fan. And, I think I read it around the same time as you did. I had the first 9 books from the second hand store, but it just seemed so daunting and I didn’t love the first book, so I have never read on… I keep thinking I should try again, but I just always have so many freaking series on the go that I can never seem to start anything else…

My first fantasy was The Hobbit, and it just sucked me into a wonderful, wonderful world of reading fantasy books. That said, I never did get into Robert Jordan, probably because of the number and size of the books. Guess, I should try the first one at least and see how I like it.

I keep swearing I’m going to read these books… I read the prequel and then somehow got stalled. So glad to know the books hold up even if you now see the influences and the flaws.
