I just finished my review of this book. It took me a while to digest after I read it. Like you, the run-on sentences and spelling errors didn’t bother me. I’ve graded enough of my 10 year old’s english papers to ‘get’ that. For me, it just added to my impression of Lawrence. I felt so much sympathy for these kids, and I really just wanted to scoop them up and make everything ok.

Haven’t started this yet, although I may be one of those who is bothered by the spelling errors and such. But if like you say, it lets us into the character’s mind- then maybe not!

This book is on “my list”. I don’t think the potential negatives that have bothered other readers (spelling, grammar,etc.) will bother me; it seems that it helps put the reader *into* the narrator’s head. Maybe not … check my review (in a few weeks!)

This book piqued my interest, and it’s nice to see you really loved it! Although the grammar/spelling thing does worry me because that is one of my pet peeves…
