“Why LT?
Why did you choose to open and maintain an LT account? Do you/did you use other online cataloging/social networking sites, like GoodReads or Shelfari? Do you use more than one? Are they different or do they serve different purposes?”
I chose a LibraryThing account originally because it was the first book cataloging site that I found. I heard about it from a friend and the idea of having a record of all my books in one place, plus the ability to tag and organize them as I wished, immediately appealed to me. It appealed even more once I realized that there was an entire community dedicated to books. I have never met so many voracious readers! In fact, I have never met anyone who reads more than I do, and here there are reams of people who do.
I have not joined any other book cataloging sites, but I do use reading applications on my facebook profile – they don’t really do much but sit there, though.
I was surprised to find such a dedicated book-obsessed community, too.
Makes me think maybe I’m not such a hopeless geek after all!
I am not good at tagging…wish I was. It would make things easier when referring back or looking up books.
It is nice to find others who are book lovers:)
LibraryThing has sure taught me that I don’t read nearly as much as I thought I did! (Not in terms of quantity but comparatively.)
Some of the other catalog sites are worth a look, but if you’re happy with LT I see absolutely no reason to go anywhere else. It’s a happy nook.
I joined because my girlfriend forced me into it.
Isn’t it nice to meet so many book obsessed people like us?!
Yes,people gasp when I say I read over 50 books a years(its only 1 a week!) yet in the reading community some are reading book a day
