I’ve recently re-read the Complete Sherlock Holmes again and the precision and purpose of Conan Doyle’s writing is one of the reasons he was able to bring such a singular character as Holmes to life.

Anything that expands on the Holmes story has to be a good thing in my book.

I am embarrassed to admit that while I own Laurie’s books, I haven’t yet read them. Yikes! I’ve read quite a bit of Holmes, though, and loved it when my niece discovered him and read a lot of the stories when she was in junior high.
