I read this one last year and I agree with you – many chapters cracked me up and some were dated. Still totally worth it if you are a Bryson fan though!

I have been wanting to try something from Bryson for a long while, but haven’t managed it yet. Which of his books do you recommend for a beginner?

Bill Bryson is a bit hit or miss for me, but then again maybe I just need to read more of his stuff. I do appreciate his ability to poke fun at things without ever sounding mean-spirited!

I think this sounds interesting because I know what it’s like to return to your native country and feel somewhat out of place. Too bad the book’s gotten dated.

I have not read this one, although I really love Bill Bryson. I think actually it would be fun to read about things that are outdated already too!
