I am a big historical fiction fan but I’ve not been feeling it lately. I will keep this recommendation in mind for when I’m in the historical fiction mood again

I am going to be receiving this book soon, and I am eager to read it. I always have loved fiction about midwives, and this seems to have added elements that I would enjoy as well. I do think there is a lot to explore in this book, both the history, and the human stories, and I am looking forward to it. I liked your review quite a bit, and am glad that you had such a good time with the book!

I too have had this on my shelf for a while. I should give it a chance if for no other reason than you mention — to get away from the royals and Rome.

I don’t read a lot of historical fiction and, to be honest, that time period doesn’t really appeal to me. I’m glad you enjoyed it so much!
